Welcome  to the Department of Computer Science at Winston-Salem State University, Winston Salem, NC. We offer three degree programs: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Master of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology. We also offer an online Certificate in Computer Programming. The BS degree in Computer Science was granted beginning in 1984 and the Department of Computer Science was founded in 1991. Housed in the Elva J. Jones Computer Science Building, the department has world class faculty, as well as outstanding students.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WSSU CSC PROGRAMMING TEAM!

Mike Moran, Julius Smith and Mehreen Munawar represented WSSU at the Mid-Atlantic Regional ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest on the campus of Duke University, October 25, 2008.  Over thirty one teams from North Carolina and Virginia competed at the Duke Site of the contest.  Other contest sites included:  Christopher Newport, John Hopkins University, Marymount University, Shippensburg University, Washington College, Wilkes University, and Radford University.  Computer Science and Information Technology majors interested in joining the WSSU team should contact:  Dr. Elva Jones-the ACM Advisor and Coach, or Dr. Rebecca Caldwell-Contest Coach.
